CSUMB Graduate McNair Mentoring Program

The Graduate McNair Mentoring Program is a volunteer based program that pairs current undergraduate McNair Scholars from UROC at CSUMB with Alumni McNair Scholars. This program was created to give students a space to process what they might be experiencing as a BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) or other minority students navigating academia.
The program facilitates weekly or bi-weekly meetings. The mentors and mentees each have their expectations from the program, however, it is highly encouraged and recommended that mentors and mentees create their own specific expectations so that they may have the best experience with this program.

This series of cuentos/contos (short stories in Spanish and Portuguese) aims to highlight the early careers of 13 Latino/a/x scientists broadly in the Ecological and Evolutionary biosciences. As minorities in white dominated scientific fields, it is important for us to highlight our experiences as Latino/a/x with the goal of sharing our experiences and to form community. As you read these cuentos/contos think about your own cuento/conto and perhaps consider sharing it. You never know who is listening and what impact you may generate in someone's life.
